Superstition is mysticism. I am not saying that mysticism is bad
or good, but, I am saying what the essence of superstition is for
fortunate or unfortunate realities. Think about it, the saying "if you
believe it, it is so" applies here. That is what I mean by a neutral
sort of mysticism that can go either way, good or bad. From the silliest
of beliefs and realities, to the most practical of beliefs and
realities, superstition is what you genuinely believe it is and it
genuinely works how you genuinely believe it works.
Win or lose, superstitious behavior can have an effect on winning or losing in line with your genuine beliefs. For, I am not saying that superstition does have or does not have an effect on reality, success and failure. I am simply saying in a neutral way that it is a form of mysticism that works like we believe it works.
As I type this article on this Friday, September thirteenth, I think of many superstitions. Two of the weirdest superstitions I am thinking of right now are burying toad eggs on a crossroad at the new moon phase, or getting a haircut or hair trim on certain phases of the moon or at a certain time of the day or month, and things like that. Although, some superstitions may seem to be silly, they can increase belief power and discipline at times also.
Reality is a funny thing. Sure, superstition seems to be total nonsense, but, when push comes to shove and reality is affected by certain beliefs of the mind in an interesting way that counts toward success or failure combined with beliefs, are they really? I have to end that part with that question because this part of reality in a sense is the "unknown country" Shakespeare (I think) unconsciously refers to in Hamlet.
In a sense, superstition then is "the unknown country" that nobody really understands because of the genuine nature of their effects on the mind in the form of beliefs. Sure, for certain, I can say beliefs are the foundation of superstition, but little else when it comes to affects or effects of such beliefs or realities.
So, anything that can be conceived exists as a whole, really, because it can be reasonably thought of. Even that which is superstitious and strangely outside of "the realm of the real". I put that in quotes, because anything that can be conceived can ultimately be real at some level, right down to "ridiculous myths" such as centaurs, unicorns and trolls. Everything is affected by belief ultimately, and everything that can be conceived is affected by reality. Those who discount the genuinely possible or strangely conceivable live within very narrow limits is all I will end with.

My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in
Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases,
but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most
part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest
action taker. I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as
my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer.
